AAPS 2025 Postgraduate & ECR Masterclass: Charting Pathways: Postgraduate Studies and Beyond… with Rev. Dr. Cliff Bird
We are pleased to invite postgraduate students and early career researchers attending the 2025 AAPS Conference to apply for a special Masterclass led by Rev Dr Cliff Bird.
Theme: Charting Pathways: Postgraduate Studies and Beyond…
This participatory session is designed for postgraduate students and early career researchers engaged in Pacific-focused work. The session will follow a talanoa-style format grounded in relational learning and collective reflection.
The Masterclass will include:
- Your Research, Your Pathway – Reflect on your research journey, its future application, and the power dynamics in your field.
- Storytelling: Rev. Dr. Cliff Bird’s Pathways – Rev. Dr. Bird will share insights from his journey as a scholar, theologian, and community leader.
- Learnings and Talanoa – Engage in collective dialogue around shared challenges, research responsibilities, and future directions.
Eligibility:
- Postgraduate students (Honours, Master’s, PhD)
- Early Career Researchers (within 5 years of PhD completion)
- Working on or with Pacific communities, topics, or methodologies

Time: 12.00 noon – 4.00 pm
Venue: The University of Sydney, Camperdown Campus
